House News: Escape Room at Robert May’s
Earlier in the year, three students asked me about running and organising an escape room for their House charity, Harry’s Hat. Fast forward a few months and we finally held the inaugural event. Samuel P, Elizabeth S and Olivia T have done an amazing job in getting props and sound effects to support their ‘Murder at the Mansion’ event. Freddie D, House captain for Jubilee, also helped out on the day and helped run one of the rooms.
12 groups of students took their turn at trying to solve the mystery in front of them. I am pleased to say that all groups were able to solve the murder mystery in the allocated time (some with time penalties for clues).
The longest completion time was 76 minutes with the majority being around 40 to 50 minutes. However, 2 groups were super sleuths and had times under 33 minutes! The winning group came from Year 8 and consisted of Orlando DR, Josh F, Freddie H, Joe H, Arthur S and Harvest T.
Elizabeth said “We were really excited to help out for a House and had so much fun, it was brilliant!” Samuel added, “I loved running it and seeing the enthusiasm of people taking part.”
I am so proud of all the students whether it was for running, organising or participating in the event. Charity support is growing all the time and I love the fact that students are taking part in different and fun activities that all support the aim of helping others less fortunate.
Next term we have a zorbing event in school for Crown House and I look forward to sharing the outcome in May!
Thank you,
Mr Mason
