Investigating Circles in Maths with Mrs Mullan!
Last half term some of Mrs Mullan's Math groups were looking at different properties of circles...
Year 7: Investigations into circles
Mrs Mullan's Year 7 class investigated how many square radiuses fitted into the area of a circle. They all agreed that they needed fewer than 4, but a little more than 3 square radiuses - hence how we discovered the number pi!
Year 11: Circle Theorems
Year 11s have been learning about circle theorems, and the eight different angle properties that occur with circles, triangles, chords and tangents. Students used biscuits and icing to recreate the theorems in a memorable way, and then ate them in the hope that they would also consume the knowledge.
