Year 9 Students go (into the) Wild on a Bushcraft Trip!
Last Monday, 39 Year 9 students went off to experience Bushcraft with the Geography department and Head of Year.
The location was in woodland in Oxfordshire, owned by the estate of Blenheim Palace.
Fortunately, despite a thunderstorm on the first night, the weather was relatively kind for the time of year. Our students learnt many skills by having a go at various activities such as trap building, first aid, carving, fire and shelter building as well as bracelet making using para-cord. In addition, students took part in a range of team building exercises including face painting, a nature walk and cooking on an open fire that they lit themselves.
Evening events around the campfire involved a lot of loud singing... Thankfully there were no houses nearby but I’m not sure what the local wildlife thought of it!
Our Year 9’s did fantastically well and immersed themselves in all of the activities - they thoroughly enjoyed their outdoor experience and hopefully would want to go again in the near future.
